Browser-local workflow

How this tool works

  1. Step 1

    3DM file

Choose a 3DM file from this device.

  2. Step 2

    Local parser

The browser reads the supported file data locally.

  3. Step 3

    Interactive preview

Orbit, inspect, and review the loaded model in this tab.

Direct answer

Can I open 3DM files in my browser?

Yes. This 3DM viewer parses and renders a single file locally in your browser, so the model is not uploaded to Modelfy. 3DM files up to 50 MB are accepted. Current boundary: Rhino objects are tessellated for browser display; NURBS editing data and construction history are not exposed.

Why choose this online 3DM viewer

Local 3DM file parsing

The selected 3DM model file is decoded on your device and is not uploaded to Modelfy. The page itself still loads normal website code and static assets.

Inspect Rhinoceros 3D Model geometry

Orbit, zoom, and pan around the loaded model to review geometry for industrial and product design before using it in another application.

3DM support boundary

Current browser implementation: Rhino objects are tessellated for browser display; NURBS editing data and construction history are not exposed.

How to open a 3DM file online

  1. 01

    Upload your file

Drag and drop a 3DM file into the viewer, or click Upload to pick one from your device.

  2. 02

    Inspect in 3D

After the 3DM loader finishes, drag to rotate, scroll to zoom, and right-click to pan while checking the model for industrial and product design.

  3. 03

    Continue your workflow

Review the documented boundary before continuing: Rhino objects are tessellated for browser display; NURBS editing data and construction history are not exposed.

About the 3DM file format

Rhinoceros 3D Model

The .3dm format is the native file of Rhinoceros (Rhino), built on the openNURBS library. It stores exact NURBS curves and surfaces alongside meshes, annotations, and layers, which makes it a staple in industrial design and architecture.

Because openNURBS is open source, this viewer can parse 3DM directly in your browser and display the render meshes of your model without any upload.

Frequently asked questions

Is my 3DM model file uploaded to a server?

The selected 3DM model file is processed by the browser and is not uploaded to Modelfy. Website code and static assets still load over the network like a normal web page.

Is the 3DM viewer free to use?

Yes. The browser viewer, converter, and local 3D text tool require no account and add no watermark. Input limits vary by format, up to 50 MB; AI model generation is a separate credit-based product.

What is the maximum file size?

3DM inputs up to 50 MB are accepted. The format-specific limit keeps browser-local parsing bounded; actual processing also depends on available memory, model complexity, and device performance.

Why does a 3DM file show nothing in the viewer?

If a model contains only NURBS surfaces that were never meshed (no render meshes saved), there may be no triangles to display. In Rhino, render the model once or save with render meshes included, then reload it here.
